The Big Sleep

The Big Sleep was the last film noir we watched in lesson. It was made in 1946 by Warner Bros. Lauren Bocall and Humprey Bogart are the main characters in this film, both classic film noir actors. The film is 114 minutes long and has elements of crime and mystery to it.
The story is about a detective, Phillip Marlowe (Humprey Bogart) who is hired by a rich family to resolve some gambling debts. Along his time working with the family Bogart finds murder and love.
The film is in traditional black and white. The film contains themes of blackmail, crime and mystery. Both main characters are smart. Bogart wears suits and hats but occasionally loosens his tie or shirt for a more casual look and also smokes. Lauren Bocall wears structured jackets and tailored outfits with collars but shirts with ties into bows for a more feminine look.
